Challenge
The client sought clarity on how to best equip procurement teams across the entities with practical knowledge and tools to embed sustainability and climate goals in processes from strategic planning to day-to-day activities. A Sustainability Guideline was agreed as a solution, grounded on the principle of complimenting disclosure requirements of regulators and stakeholders.

A practical and user-oriented framework was agreed with the client. The framework provided a logical flow for the guideline structure aligned to ISO 20400 principles and designed for independent referencing of sections.

A draft Guideline which referenced best practices, international standards and legislation was shared with the client. The guideline prioritised sustainability practices and tools that were relevant to the client and the entities, using clear definitions and designed for easy navigation.

A draft Guideline was socialised with a cross-functional stakeholder group to gather feedback. This was followed in-person workshops to clarify points, refine content and align on next steps.

A final version of the Guideline incorporated client feedback and included additional elements to drive adoption including a high-level cross functional RACI model, mapped references to legislation, practical tools and “what to do next” recommendations.

To further enhance accessibility and adoption, the Guideline was translated into the other business languages used by the client and entities.
